The Monster steps forth from the ruins of his master’s lab. The dark work that brought him to life has been ended forever, but now what to make of this new life? He will never be like those from which he was built. He could never be welcomed back into that life. He will forever be alone. As he gazes then on a butterfly alighting in the ruins he thinks that maybe this is just a new transformation. Like a butterfly he has awakened into a new form. Without the need of food to sustain him maybe there is place for him in the wild places amongst the trees and animals. Without human needs maybe he can be better than them. Maybe he can finally be at peace.
